The Autoware Foundation (AWF) and its premium member, MACNICA, Inc., participated in the Amata Smart City Showcase, one of the events at The ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) Conference & Exhibition 2019 in Thailand from August 22nd to 24th. MACNICA, together with Tier IV as technical support, sponsored a demonstration of autonomous driving golf-cart with Autoware.

Prior to the demonstration, MACNICA, Tier IV and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. carried out a number of discussions and investigations to provide high-quality test rides with 100% safety, including detailed risk assessment of the route and fine-tuning of the vehicle.

Fortunately, the weather was very sunny on the demonstration day . At the session, the Minister of the Digital Economy and Society of Thailand and the Chairman of the Amata Corporation PCL who hosted this event, and various participants were thrilled with autonomous driving with us in the AMATA Industrial Park facility, and so were we. For most of them, this was their first experience of the autonomous driving, thus showed strong interests in its technology – such as an automatic collision prevention function – through this short but exciting drive.
