Last week, we hosted an unforgettable Autoware Meetup at Blu Jazz (Haji Lane) — a night where sci-fi pop culture and open-source technology met, right in the heart of Singapore’s creative district.
✨ With ~80 attendees, the venue buzzed with energy as developers, researchers, founders, and VCs came together to celebrate collaboration, curiosity, and community.
Big thanks to our sponsors — AMD and TIER IV — and to our community partners Open Robotics, Mole, Antler, The Runway Ventures, and Build Club for helping bring this to life.
🎙️ One of the highlights of the evening was a lively panel discussion moderated by Samet Kütük (Community Advocate & Head of Marketing, Autoware Foundation), joined by: Simon George (AMD), Simon Thompson (TIER IV), 🙃 Geoffrey Biggs (Open Robotics), and Eugene Teo (Antler)
Together we explored:
🧠 What drives organizations to embrace open-source culture
🤖 How AI is reshaping opportunities and challenges for open-source communities
📊 How companies measure ROI and value from contributing to open projects
🌍 Why open-source initiatives must find their way into real-world products, not remain academic or science-only projects — a mission we’re taking to heart at the Autoware Foundation.
Afterward, the night shifted into networking, deep conversations, and shared inspiration — a true reflection of what open collaboration feels like.
💫 This event amplified the #Autoware community’s visibility among #ROSCon attendees and the local Singapore tech scene — and we’re just getting started. Hope to see you all in a similar meetup scene in Toronto, Canada!
📸 Take a look at some of the photos from the night, and a meetup video drops next week!
Once again, many thanks to our collaborators, Muhammad Haziq Faris Hasnol, Melly Ling, Tengku Wazir Aziz, and the rest of the Mole team! It would be impossible to tackle this without their immense help and execution! And we appreciate the promotion of the meetup by Ryan Thoo and Admond Lee!
